Today Hans kindly chauffeured me on a used furniture tour – we hit the Salvation Army, another spot in the Mission, and Goodwill. I scored matching off-white with gold trim bedside tables for $27 at Salvation Army (50% off today), and a cute silver baker’s rack for either the closet (where it is currently) or the patio (where I can use it for plants in the future).
In other news, I crashed the Gnarls Barkley concert at Slow Food Rocks in Fort Mason. This was an unexpected delight. I saw his name on the poster while running this morning – was it only this morning?! It feels like days ago…He was top on the list, so I thought he might be up first, so I let go of any chance of hearing him as I had mid-day plans already. But when I got back from the furniture excursion, whose music did I hear but Gnarls Barkley! I quickly dropped of my finds and walked on over to find a spot to sit in the grass outside the barricade. For the final number, a security guard extended grace and invited me in. So I was able to hear the full effects of the speakers and see the band in all their coolness (sweater vests included!).
A brilliant end to a lovely day.
I am guessing that your new bedside table belonged to a little girl in the 70s who loved Holly Hobby and Sunshine Family dolls (http://www.angelfire.com/art/dollmemories/sunshinefamily.html). Cuz I had one just like it.
Love your blog…your dad told me about it. –Nancy
